Reviews, Reviews, Reviews

Love them? Hate them?  Or maybe a bit of both?

There is no denying that social media has come to stay and with that comes the freedom for clients to leave reviews across platforms like GOOGLE, FACEBOOK AND YELP.  It is very true that reviews can make or break a business at times.

Here are some tips to encourage clients to leave positive reviews and also how to deal with those not so nice reviews while understanding that  it may not be all lost after all.

Six Easy Ways To Ask For Reviews:

1. Post little signs in each treatment room, bathroom, and waiting area.  Visibility trumps ability

2. Casually ask the client to leave a review during check out especially if they express how much they loved it. If they say yes, be sure to follow up by text or email with the link to remind them.  Slow and steady wins the race

3.  Send a quarterly email with self care techniques or highlighting some massage tools they can use for self care and finish the email by asking for reviews and including all the links to each platform to make it easier for them to click on it after reading your email. When you give someone something its easier to get something from them in return.  Givers Gain

4. If a client checks in using Facebook or Yelp, kindly ask for a review under the same thread. Make it happen

5.  Ask directly as a favor of your close friends, family and those in your circle of networks who have been a client to leave a review by explaining that it will help your continued business growth.  Ask and you shall receive

6.  If a client tags a friend under your business Facebook post, be sure to reach out to them personally asking for a review, do not be shy!  If they tagged you, most likely they are active on social media and will be happy to leave a review. Baby don't cry, don't get fed

So after all this work you finally reach a 5 Star status and out of nowhere you receive a bad review, what do you do?  Unfortunately, you will not always be able to get it removed unless you pay big money to a marketing agency to fight for you and even that is not guaranteed. In this case, we suggest you gather all information you can remember to defend your point and reply.  Yes! Reply to the review as soon as you can and this is why,  clients actually click on the low rating reviews to see why the low rating and when they see the response of an owner being transparent by either owning up to it or defending the business, it makes you sound real and less than perfect and clients appreciate that more than perfect 5 Star reviews across all platform; which can make it seem too good to be true.

So to recap, do not be afraid to ask for reviews and do not be afraid to stand up for yourself and your business.
